Phoenix was not yet the booming metropolitan area it would become in later decades. The timing of this weekend's shows suggests that the band was playing some quick shows for cash on the weekend, and then returning to San Francisco to work on the album. One interesting detail about this show was that area resident Vince Welnick attended the show as a fan."
